Online is the application channel
An online personal loan, a short-term loan and a credit line can have different repayment structures even when their forms look similar. Choose the structure that fits the expense and income dates before comparing providers. A payday deadline and six monthly instalments are different obligations.
Prepare documents without confusing a quote with approval
Check the provider’s own list. For example, PrimeLoans requests identity, income and residence evidence, while LendPlus describes income verification through TruID with consent. These are provider-specific processes, not a claim that the same checklist applies everywhere.
Define the usable cash needed and check the legal provider.
Submit the accepted evidence and retain the application reference.
Compare the pre-agreement quotation, including deductions and all payments.
Read any debit-order mandate alongside the agreement before confirmation.
Keep the schedule and verify release and repayment separately.
Compare usable cash and the full payment schedule
Independent illustration: a loan labelled R3,000 with a R200 deduction gives you R2,800 to use. Six instalments of R550 total R3,300, a R500 difference from the money received. This is a fictional cash-cost example, not an APR or an offer from a listed provider. If your expense is R3,000, those net proceeds leave a shortfall.
A longer schedule can reduce each payment while increasing total cost. Include compulsory charges and distinguish a fee deducted upfront from one already included in instalments, so that it is not counted twice.
Repayment is part of the comparison
Ask how to get a settlement balance, reconcile a missing payment and request help if income changes. An extension can carry charges while leaving principal due. Read our repayment-difficulty guide before assuming another short loan solves the payment gap. Source examples checked 29 October 2026.
Availability note: FASTA’s offer is paused on Finpanda. Its published terms are discussed for information; application alternatives are separately labelled.
What this online-loan page covers
These four active advertising partners accept or direct people to online credit applications in South Africa. The offer buttons for LendPlus and PrimeLoans now open their respective websites. Compare the website you reach, the legal credit provider and the pre-agreement quotation before entering personal details. The presence of a site here is not an approval or a quality ranking.
Amount and repayment period
CreditBar publishes R500–R5,000 over 7–61 days in the FAQ (another homepage section says 7–45; confirm the quotation). FASTA publishes access to credit up to R15,000 with up to six monthly instalments. PrimeLoans’s FAQ publishes up to R8,000 for repeat customers; it does not establish a first-time applicant’s limit. We have not confirmed comparable public ranges for Jabulani Money or LendPlus, so check their limits in the application. A maximum is not a personal offer.
Check the quotation before signing
The National Credit Regulator consumer guide says the pre-agreement statement and quotation should disclose the amount borrowed, instalments, interest, additional charges and payment dates. Compare the total amount payable and the dates against your budget, not only the maximum loan size or the speed of the application.

Questions about South African loans
How does Finpanda choose the South African listings?
We show selected advertising partners with an online application route. The comparison follows our commercial listing order. A placement is not an approval recommendation, and Finpanda may earn from an application. Compare the provider’s current quotation before deciding.
Can I see a rate or total repayment before applying?
The listed providers do not publish one rate or total that applies to every applicant. Ask for the pre-agreement statement and quotation showing the amount, interest, all fees, instalments, dates and total payable before signing.
Why do some buttons open a different website name?
The LendPlus button opens lendplus.co.za and the PrimeLoans button opens primeloans.co.za. Both are advertising links. Check the website address and legal provider named in the application and agreement before entering personal details.
Does a published maximum mean I will be approved?
No. CreditBar and FASTA publish product limits, but the individual amount and terms depend on the provider’s assessment. Jabulani Money says its offer follows an affordability assessment. An application may be declined.
How can I check a South African credit provider?
Use the legal provider name or registration number shown on the application to search the National Credit Regulator register. Check the name again on the agreement before accepting.
What if the repayment date does not fit my budget?
Compare the proposed payment dates with reliable income and essential bills. If the repayment is unaffordable, do not accept the agreement; ask the provider about a suitable product or consider an alternative to borrowing.
What does the online-loan comparison include?
It includes four active advertising partners with online application routes. Published amount and term limits are displayed only where we could verify them on a provider site.
Where can I learn about loan costs?
Read our total-cost guide and request each provider’s pre-agreement quotation before signing.
Should I pay an upfront fee before receiving a loan?
No. The NCR warns that fake providers demand advance payments to release supposed loans. Stop and verify the legal provider through the NCR register. Read our lender-check guide.
Where can I check my credit report?
A South African credit bureau can provide an annual free report; TransUnion explains its service. Check the information for errors and use the bureau’s dispute route if needed. A report does not guarantee or prevent approval. See our credit-record guide.
Does credit-life insurance change the cost of a loan?
It can. Ask whether cover is required and include the premium and full-term cost in the quotation comparison. Coverage and exclusions depend on the policy. See the NCR guide and our cost checklist.
Where can I get help if I cannot afford a repayment?
Contact the lender through a verified channel and ask for written options. If you are over-indebted, the NCR explains debt counselling; check a counsellor’s registration and fees first. Read our repayment-help guide.
