Questions about South African loans

How does Finpanda choose the South African listings?
We show selected advertising partners with an online application route. The comparison is alphabetical. A placement is not an approval recommendation, and Finpanda may earn from an application. Compare the provider’s current quotation before deciding.
Can I see a rate or total repayment before applying?
The listed providers do not publish one rate or total that applies to every applicant. Ask for the pre-agreement statement and quotation showing the amount, interest, all fees, instalments, dates and total payable before signing.
Why do some buttons open a different website name?
The LendPlus button opens lendplus.co.za and the PrimeLoans button opens primeloans.co.za. Both are advertising links. Check the website address and legal provider named in the application and agreement before entering personal details.
Does a published maximum mean I will be approved?
No. CreditBar and FASTA publish product limits, but the individual amount and terms depend on the provider’s assessment. Jabulani Money says its offer follows an affordability assessment. An application may be declined.
How can I check a South African credit provider?
Use the legal provider name or registration number shown on the application to search the National Credit Regulator register. Check the name again on the agreement before accepting.
What if the repayment date does not fit my budget?
Compare the proposed payment dates with reliable income and essential bills. If the repayment is unaffordable, do not accept the agreement; ask the provider about a suitable product or consider an alternative to borrowing.
Should I pay an upfront fee before receiving a loan?
No. The NCR warns that fake providers demand advance payments to release supposed loans. Stop and verify the legal provider through the NCR register. Read our lender-check guide.
Where can I check my credit report?
A South African credit bureau can provide an annual free report; TransUnion explains its service. Check the information for errors and use the bureau’s dispute route if needed. A report does not guarantee or prevent approval. See our credit-record guide.
Does credit-life insurance change the cost of a loan?
It can. Ask whether cover is required and include the premium and full-term cost in the quotation comparison. Coverage and exclusions depend on the policy. See the NCR guide and our cost checklist.
Where can I get help if I cannot afford a repayment?
Contact the lender through a verified channel and ask for written options. If you are over-indebted, the NCR explains debt counselling; check a counsellor’s registration and fees first. Read our repayment-help guide.

How to compare these loan sites

Start with the amount you need and a repayment date you can meet. The table shows only ranges we could confirm on current provider pages. A published maximum is not an amount you have been approved to borrow.

LendPlusCheck quotationCheck quotationlendplus.co.za
PrimeLoansCheck quotationCheck quotationprimeloans.co.za

These different loan types cannot be ranked from amount and term alone. Ask each site for the pre-agreement statement and quotation, then compare the interest, initiation and service fees, credit insurance if applicable, the due dates and the total amount to repay. Affordability and credit checks can change what is offered.

How Finpanda chooses and orders sites

We list selected sites with which we have advertising relationships. The list is not a survey of every registered credit provider in South Africa. Cards are ordered alphabetically. We do not assign a “best” score or customer rating where there is no documented method and source. We may receive compensation when you apply through a link; that relationship does not change the terms in a lender’s quotation.

Borrowing safely in South Africa

Before sharing your ID or bank information, confirm the final website and the credit provider named in the agreement. The National Credit Regulator’s register can be used to check a provider’s registration. The NCR advises consumers to request a pre-agreement statement and quotation and to be wary of upfront fees and “no credit checks” claims. Never assume that a fast application means approval or same-day payment.

Explore South Africa loan guides

For a specific decision, read how to check a loan company, what a poor credit record can mean for an application, how credit-life insurance affects a quotation, and where to start if a repayment becomes unaffordable. For a specific brand, see what to check before applying with LendPlus or PrimeLoans. The full loan-guides index connects these topics to the comparison pages.
