How to check a digital lender in Kenya before applying Illustrative image

Before downloading a loan app or sending identity details, find out which legal entity would lend to you. A familiar brand name may differ from the registered company name. The Central Bank of Kenya digital credit directory is the starting point for checking licensed digital credit providers.

Explore relevant Kenya providers

Start with the provider's own terms. These profiles explain who offers the product and what to check before applying.

LendPlus

Check the current written offer for the amount received, fees, total repayment and due date. Eligibility and approval depend on LendPlus.

The LendPlus placement is paid. Profile links are editorial and do not mean endorsement, a verified ranking or guaranteed approval. Compare the current total cost directly with each provider.

Match the legal name and site

  1. Find the provider's legal name in its terms or privacy notice.
  2. Look for that legal name in the CBK directory. Check the date of the directory and the contact details.
  3. Open the provider's official site yourself. Avoid links sent by an unknown account or group.

For example, LendPlus says it trades as Aventus Technology Limited; the CBK August 2026 directory lists Aventus with the lender's customer email. This check does not replace reading the actual offer.

Inspect the cost and data request

Before accepting, read the amount you will receive, every fee, total repayable, due date, late-payment consequences and complaint channel. Review what phone or contact data the app requests. If key terms are absent, pause and ask the provider for written terms.

If you find a problem

Save the offer, messages and repayment receipts. Contact the provider through its official support channel, and use the relevant CBK information if you need to escalate a complaint. Do not send more money to an unverified payment number to “unlock” a loan.

Questions borrowers ask

Does a directory listing guarantee a good deal?

No. It helps identify a provider. The price and suitability still depend on the written offer and your circumstances.

Does Finpanda verify every provider's current rate?

No. We link to primary sources and state when we checked them; you should confirm current terms before applying.
