M-Shwari and KCB M-PESA can both appear in the M-PESA menu, but they are separate bank-backed products. NCBA describes M-Shwari on its personal loans page; KCB describes KCB M-PESA on its product page. Your available amount and terms depend on the provider's assessment.
Compare the same loan amount
Start with the amount you need to receive, not only the amount shown as a loan limit. In each official flow, record the amount credited, every fee, the due date and the total you must repay. A fee percentage alone can be misleading when the borrowing period or deductions differ.
Check eligibility and access
Both services are accessed through M-PESA, but each bank sets its own checks. One person may have a limit on one product and no offer on the other. Do not treat eligibility on one service as approval by the other.
Before you accept
- Use the official M-PESA menu or the bank's own instructions, not a payment link from a message.
- Check the full repayment amount and due date on screen.
- Read what happens after missed or late repayment.
- Keep the confirmation and repayment receipt.
