Before installing a loan app in Nigeria, identify the legal company that would lend to you. A familiar app name alone does not tell you who holds the agreement. The FCCPC register of digital money lenders is a practical starting point, but its listing is not a price comparison or a guarantee of good conduct.
1. Match the name and app
Find the legal company name in the app listing, terms and privacy notice. Search the FCCPC register for both the company and app name. For example, the register lists CashXpress Nigeria Limited and CashX App; CashX’s own terms name CashXpress. If the names do not match, ask the provider to explain before sharing data.
2. Read permissions and privacy terms
Check what the app requests from your phone and why. CashX’s privacy notice is one example of a provider document to read. Be especially careful with contact lists, identity images and financial information. The FCCPC guidance advises consumers to understand and consent to data use.
3. Check the complete written loan offer
Record the amount you would actually receive, APR or stated interest basis, each fee, due dates, total repayment and late charges. A provider can list an advertised range but offer you a different amount. Do not treat an application screen as a signed contract or assume approval.
4. Keep evidence if something goes wrong
Save the agreement, app screenshots, support messages and repayment receipts. Contact the provider via its official support channel if a charge or payment record is wrong. The FCCPC site gives a public route for digital-lending information and complaints.
Questions borrowers ask
Does FCCPC registration mean an app has the lowest rate?
No. The register is an identity check. You still need to inspect the actual price and repayment obligation.
Does Finpanda approve a loan?
No. Finpanda currently shows one Nigeria advertising partner, CashX. The provider makes the lending decision.
